Always an Adventure

No matter what the Emmons/Boring's do we always seem to have some sort of an adventure, yesterday was not any different.

As the heat of summer turns in to cool fall days we decided, albeit, last minute to take the boat out.  It seems that our family can never do anything quick and after 90 minutes of getting ready we were finally off for the lake.

We got to Canyon Lake late in the afternoon and it was absolutely gorgeous.  The temperature was in the mid 80's, the water was like glass, and the lake was pretty empty.  We get the boat loaded and in the position to back it into the water and we realize the battery is completely dead.  There wasn't enough power to turn on any accessory.  Brent and my dad hook the boat up to the jumper cables and the truck and jump the battery.  Hooray we have juice and are able to start the engines!  We get the boat down into the water and my dad tries to start the engines again.  Nothing happens, not one thing.  Great!  Tahnee gets the truck and brings it down near the boat and we try to jump it again.  After letting the boat battery run on the jumper cables for a few minutes we are off thinking that as long as we don't turn the boat off we should be good to go for the afternoon.

We get about 150 yards or so away from the marina and the one engine dies.  Brent tries to start the engine and it only kills the other engine.  Great no power and a boat loaded with 11 people!!!  We look for our ores figuring we will paddle back to the marina and wouldn't you know we only have one ore!!!  Why?  None of us know why we only have one ore.  We were literally up the creek without a paddle.  We all just kind of sat there for a minute until Brent and Grace jumped in the water and decided they would push the boat to the marina.  Next thing Roberto (Grace's boyfriend), Tahnee, my mom, & myself are in the water pushing and pulling the boat to shore.  Tahnee, Brent, & Grace ended up pulling the boat with a rope while Roberto, my mom, and me pushed the boat.

My mom, me, and Roberto "pushing" the boat.

Tahnee swam to shore with a rope and pulled us in.

Grace doing her part while Larissa watches.
Once we got the boat back to shore Brent and Dad went and bought another battery while we waited for about 90 minutes for them to get back.  When Brent and Dad returned with the new battery they learned that the terminals with the new battery were the wrong size so they had to rig something up so we could still enjoy some time on the lake and eventually get the boat back on the trailer.

Once all was said and done everyone who wanted to wakeboard was able to and we all had a really good time.

Our little adventure this time reminded us of all the other fun and crazy stuff we have experienced over the years with our boat.  Such fun and wonderful memories!
