So I am a little slow getting this blog post written.
For Labor Day our family, minus Grace, decided to visit Inks Lake State Park. We have had such a hot and miserable summer we wanted to do something that involved water.
Brent, Tahnee, Hannah, Madison, & Kirstine looking at the fish.
Inks Lake is 90 mins North of San Antonio and about 50 miles West of Austin. We packed drinks and snack food and stopped on the way up and bought Subway. The drive to Inks Lake is very beautiful even with a drought. The city of Marble Falls is gorgeous and such a cool place. I would love to be able to spend a day exploring there.

Just outside of Inks Lake is the Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery. We stopped there to take a tour. Unfortunately there wasn't much to see as they were in between fish growing seasons. LOL. They did have a little pond set up with fish so you could still get an idea of how it works.
After the fish hatchery we made our way to Inks Lake. We had our picnic lunch and everyone cooled off in the lake. The weather was beautiful and the water felt great. The best part was that it wasn't too crowded either.
After eating and swimming Brent and the kids were super excited and super ready to go to the Devil's Swim Hole. Devil's Swim Hole is some rocks you can climb and jump off of into the water. The heights to jump off from is about 7', 14', and 28'. Surprisingly Larissa was the most excited and was the first one to swim across the lake to the rocks. However Seth was the first one to climb the rocks and jump.

Here is Brent... making me a nervous wreck!
It took some work but Brent convinced my mom, Grandma Cheryl, to jump with all four kids off the 14' rock. Here are some stills from that video.

There they go!
On the way home way home we found this really cool store on the side of the road. It had everything Texas in it and more plus horses, donkeys, chickens, roosters, out back.
In Marble Falls we stopped and ate at a little whole in the wall cafe, Blue Bonnet Cafe. The cafe has been there since 1929. The cafe, come to find out, is recognized nationwide. A couple presidents and celebs have stopped to eat there and write ups about the restaurant are mentioned in newspapers as far away as the Los Angeles Times!!! The food and service was absolutely amazing.
We had a wonderful day exploring another part of Texas, wonder where we will go next time!
