Independence Day

Larissa has been so excited to go to the lake!
She has been asking for months now.
We had a wonderful 4th of July.  We were all together as a family and no one had to miss the day working.

Our day started off bright and early heading to Canyon Lake to take the boat out for the first time in over a year!!!  Five is the magical age in our family where the kids must give wakeboarding a shot... Larissa turned 5 in March.  We had her in the water first strapped to a wakeboard before she had time to think much about it.  Since this was her first time and she is still so little Dad went in the water with her.  The conditions were perfect for her, not choppy and not too many people on the lake surprisingly enough.

We were SO excited that Larissa actually got up on her first time out in the water.  Once she got up though she told us she was done trying.
Larissa wakeboarding!
Hannah waiting for her turn to wakeboard.

Hannah has been trying to wakeboard for 5 summers now.  She has never given up or been frustrated.  There have been times where she is able to stand up on the board but never for very long.  So two years older and buff from all of her softball playing she gave it another try.  On her second attempt she was up and up for a long time!!!  She was grinning from ear to ear and we were all so proud of her.

Off she goes.

The boys chillaxen on the boat.
After spending a few hours on the lake we headed over to Spencer and Tahnee's house to spend the rest of the day at the clubhouse, swimming, and grilling hot dogs and chicken fajitas.  We even managed to get a couple games of Catch Phrase in!  Larissa wanted goggles for her birthday and Monday at the pool was the first time she got to use them.
