Snow Day

On Friday, February 4th, Brent and the kids had their first official snow day!!!

Thursday evening it started with freezing rain so Brent was told to not go in to work until 8am (instead of 6am) the next day.  The kids and I prepared that evening for school like we usually do but the kids were praying for snow so they didn't have to go to school.

At 5 am on Friday Brent's job called and woke the two of us to let him know that they were closing the center for all of Friday.  I hopped on my phone and checked the district website and sure enough our school district called a snow day - all the schools eventually closed for the day.

At 7am Kirstine came in our room to let us know that we had over slept and didn't get them up for school.  I told her it had snowed and that she didn't have to go to school.  Next thing you know the 3 older kids are bundled up and outside playing.

Everything was in cased in an inch of ice and then about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of snow on top of that.  All the highways in the entire county were closed because of the ice.

View up our street.  It was so pretty!

Turned out pretty good!

Most of the snow ended up melting by 3 pm but the ice hung around for the next 36 hours in some spots.  My poor Colorado born and raised father even slipped and fell on the ice in our driveway.  Thankfully he was okay and we all were able to get a good laugh from it.

It has been one crazy winter!
