Our tradition for about 5 years now is to attend the L.A. County Fair. If you have never been and live in the area I recommend you check it out. There is no other fair like it around, it makes the Orange County Fair look silly. We don't go to ride rides, we go to eat terribly unhealthy food that you don't eat unless you are at the fair (deep fried Snickers or Twinkies anyone?), look at all the vendors, watch some shows, and check out the animals. If the kids have a Grandpa/Poppy with them they usually end up getting to ride a few rides.
